To say May has been a busy month is an understatement. I have been out of town every weekend except for Memorial Day weekend and I'll be in town to work.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first weekend in May started out with a bang! I was in Ocean City, MD for a wedding and a half marathon. It was a great girls weekend and to top it off I crushed my sub-2 half goal for this race, 1:53:10. My race recap will be up sometime soon.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The second weekend in May we traveled to North Carolina to see my brother-in-law graduate from college. It was a great visit with lots of family! Poor Cameron got sick the day of graduation and didn't go to the ceremony. The next day I went home to see my Mom for Mother's Day and we biked 20 miles together which was awesome!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The third weekend in May we traveled to PA for a brewery tour. I don't like beer, but I love food so I was along for the eats. I ended up getting some great food, a delicious glass of wine, an ok cider and the most amazing cider I've ever had. It was Spire Dark and Dry. Even the non-cider drinkers I was with thought it was good. It's from Washington State so I have a feeling it isn't going to be very common in my neck of the woods. </div>

<u>Workouts</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have run a grand total of 3 times in the past 3 weeks. I took a total of 2 weeks off from running after my half marathon. My body definitely needed some serious recovery. I was sick last week with allergy/sinus junk so I took some extra rest days then too. It's kind of nice to just listen to my body and not have any necessary workouts for awhile. I have been enjoying the bike lately, and it even crossed my mind to sign up for a sprint triathlon in July. My nerves got the best of me even thinking about signing up so I didn't do it. </div>

I was happy to get in two strength training sessions this week. My speed work was definitely the toughest part of the week. I had to fight for every second of that workout! On Tuesday I did it...I signed up for the Goofy Challenge again for 2016! Call me crazy, but it was awesome in 2015 :)<br />
<br />
We had a busy, but super fun weekend! On Saturday we met up with a group of people to go hiking and then we went to a winery. We were starving by the time we got to the winery and luckily they had the most delicious brick oven pizza, it really hit the spot! Out of all of the people we hung out with none of us are from the town we currently live in, we're all transplants, which was pretty cool. On Sunday I finished my last long run of this half marathon training cycle. I could tell my legs were sore from hiking the day before, but they eventually loosened up. I'm excited to be in taper town! Less than 2 weeks until race day!<br />

Be sure to check out their posts too. This weeks topic is brands to love. There are so many brands in the fitness world and I have tried out quite a few of them. Picking a top 5 was pretty tough, but here are my top five favorite brands.<br />
<br />
<b>1. Brooks</b><br />
This is my go to shoe brand. The Ghost's are a great neutral shoe that work perfectly for me. Since August 2013 I've had 6 pairs of these shoes in all different colors. I also own some Brooks clothing that I absolutely love.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdxLfzd4f82REELaPc-BgcBNcmYEe7JSyOdmzFySiexTTb8M7XbQeRFQYiW7Yi4BI4LnKgqXz312ru3Z9x2ZelyRGkmZ3EgItCy-s3e7t0fsTXCCSDm8n2hvxYr74CD9kXAWVtKkkuQ94/s1600/Womens-Brooks-Ghost-.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdxLfzd4f82REELaPc-BgcBNcmYEe7JSyOdmzFySiexTTb8M7XbQeRFQYiW7Yi4BI4LnKgqXz312ru3Z9x2ZelyRGkmZ3EgItCy-s3e7t0fsTXCCSDm8n2hvxYr74CD9kXAWVtKkkuQ94/s1600/Womens-Brooks-Ghost-.jpg" height="169" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><a href="http://www.altonsports.co.uk/product/brooks-ghost-7-2/" target="_blank">Source</a></span></div>
<u><br /></u>
<b>2. Thorlos</b><br />
The Thorlos Experia are my favorite running socks. I have enough pairs to get me stocked between running days because I pretty much refuse to run without them. They have great cushion and make my feet feel great while running.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF5twYmDJbUefsKkJz1xM5q7urBX7lgzWDjSGF40wkVwPG3g1bnshk6pFWCKWcgsF22ZReeWybGCjRZBL0YJpyxQvfuoK4Qh_y8cjZo-NO3DfqjJJdFaE8PSb_dSM9kb126dXIgFKV_HE/s1600/thorlos.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF5twYmDJbUefsKkJz1xM5q7urBX7lgzWDjSGF40wkVwPG3g1bnshk6pFWCKWcgsF22ZReeWybGCjRZBL0YJpyxQvfuoK4Qh_y8cjZo-NO3DfqjJJdFaE8PSb_dSM9kb126dXIgFKV_HE/s1600/thorlos.jpg" height="237" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://fitskitz.com/2012/03/28/fit-closet/" target="_blank"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Source</span></a></div>
<u><br /></u>
<b>3. Sparkly Soul</b><br />
These headbands are the best things ever! I wear them not only when I run and workout, but also at work. I have to wear blue or white scrubs at work so I love wearing these headbands to add a little pop of color to my outfit. They do not move at all and don't get stretched out either.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Nh4vhbZI62TMCWxONFjSlpStMwvvpRzoPcsXMVjnw9w6Erdgc9bcRKKzuQCN2EX1PFZ_7ep3PbZdKiK9u1PDUv0D-OlKD8S3V3-KOxB-pCcYZmvsg7-Tho-ujy81cfeiAWLK7vCQPG0/s1600/IMG_3774.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8Nh4vhbZI62TMCWxONFjSlpStMwvvpRzoPcsXMVjnw9w6Erdgc9bcRKKzuQCN2EX1PFZ_7ep3PbZdKiK9u1PDUv0D-OlKD8S3V3-KOxB-pCcYZmvsg7-Tho-ujy81cfeiAWLK7vCQPG0/s1600/IMG_3774.JPG" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">We wore Sparkly Soul Headbands during the Enchanted 10K for a headband and for Cinderella's necklace.</span></div>
<br /></div>
<b>4. Nuun</b><br />
I am a new fan of Nuun. I had tried two flavors in the past and couldn't really tolerate the taste. I have tried 3 more flavors and now really enjoy it! I love that it has the electrolytes I need pre and post-run and that it's not sugary/full of calories.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnmKym9WhyFdrtEF8MZVj4gbFImCqkmKDyaOjrMOQT3enJAGQqBjFGs2UF2rbpEbPKYAdkjNJy2Ytxp8vxNbsX1uszE9-JPR8Ld_lEJMaOBdiQkjvHDsxuAFmAB-e7sLV9piBYXw3NeBY/s1600/nuun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnmKym9WhyFdrtEF8MZVj4gbFImCqkmKDyaOjrMOQT3enJAGQqBjFGs2UF2rbpEbPKYAdkjNJy2Ytxp8vxNbsX1uszE9-JPR8Ld_lEJMaOBdiQkjvHDsxuAFmAB-e7sLV9piBYXw3NeBY/s1600/nuun.jpg" height="277" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><a href="http://arianahilborn.com/2014/05/nuun-review/" target="_blank">Source</a></span></div>
<br />
<b>5. Pro Compression</b><br />
These socks are absolute life savers. I wear them every time I work and they prevent my legs from feeling really achy by the end of my 12 hour shift. I also rely on these for recovery. Typically I sleep in them the night before a long run/race and then wear them post-run also.<br />
<br />

Note: Registration for the general public opens April 28 at noon.<br />
<br />
Training for my first marathon as part of the Goofy Challenge was draining both physically and emotionally. I started too feel burn out a few weeks before the race. In the end the Goofy Challenge was an incredible experience and I wouldn't have wanted to run my first marathon any other way.<br />

<u><b>Training Plan</b></u><br />
I started training on June 30. That is over 6 months of training! I modified <a href="http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/training/running/plans/2014/Marathon/Marathon15_Goofy.pdf" target="_blank">Jeff Galloway's</a> training plan that's on the runDisney website. My plan included 6 weekends where you run Saturday and Sunday with the longest being 10 miles and 20 miles. If I had to do it again I would not train for that length of time because I think I could get into marathon shape in a shorter period of time which would have then helped with some of the burnout I felt towards the end.<br />
<br />
<b><u>It's Going to Hurt</u></b><br />
There's a certain pain that comes with training for a marathon. It's a different kind of pain than the pain that comes with injury. There's a burn in your muscles and bones as you push your body to run distances that you never thought was possible. Prepare yourself to be mentally tough to push past this feeling.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRz3GxD4KhM_iYUp5f8F2sbbagQK3IYGs8AoOxNCALA18ef-qKPQi7n79jr7ZWisNq0UhB1ptLjrQnHSbxL23Dx4GyE5IO8Cb6sU_zCPNVGq4fQfo7nzdx2jJRda_vQQrDb-Fq2h75Wtg/s1600/goofy+(2).jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRz3GxD4KhM_iYUp5f8F2sbbagQK3IYGs8AoOxNCALA18ef-qKPQi7n79jr7ZWisNq0UhB1ptLjrQnHSbxL23Dx4GyE5IO8Cb6sU_zCPNVGq4fQfo7nzdx2jJRda_vQQrDb-Fq2h75Wtg/s1600/goofy+(2).jpeg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<b><br /></b><b><u>Dedication is Extremely Important</u></b><br />
Logging the miles is the most important part of marathon training. The key to Goofy Challenge training is the back-to-back runs on the weekends. Those runs prepare your mind and body for race weekend. I never worried about pace for the long runs, just completing them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLYwuOVgZJAIGnujOgvbpzV504L_YQJoFHK4uOsN4DH34Z97dFJPOvyGZO7m3yHLAE2Z3n0mniDjAI3jUtdTHv9LocSBu0nYjhM4c7QteJ88xWIU2zf1blBlkcahEcv3C31QvSSPnxkqU/s1600/Goofy.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLYwuOVgZJAIGnujOgvbpzV504L_YQJoFHK4uOsN4DH34Z97dFJPOvyGZO7m3yHLAE2Z3n0mniDjAI3jUtdTHv9LocSBu0nYjhM4c7QteJ88xWIU2zf1blBlkcahEcv3C31QvSSPnxkqU/s1600/Goofy.jpeg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<u><b>Vision is Helpful</b></u><br />
During my last few long runs I have envisioned running at Disney World and crossing that marathon finish line. It gave me just a little extra boost throughout my runs. At one point I told Em while running, "I keep forgetting we get to run at Disney for the races and it's not going to be this boring."<br />

Any other tips for the Goofy or Dopey Challenge?<br />
<br />
I'm still on the fence about what races I'm going to sign up for today (I've got 2 1/2 hours to decide)! The Goofy Challenge is definitely a strong contender.<br />
<br />
That's all for now?<br />

My run on Easter felt terrible. My legs were absolutely dead from the 5K the day prior. I was surprised at how long it took me to recover from that race, but I gave my legs the rest they needed. I've really been trying to focus on nutrition and sleep lately. I've been getting adequate sleep over the past week or so and it makes such a difference.<br />
<br />
Lately, my sweet tooth has been out of control, especially at work! I've been eating dessert impulsively and some of it isn't even dessert I really care for! I stocked up on some Luna Protein bars to curb the cravings (I think they have too much sugar in them, but I figure it's better than eating cake or cookies). I'm trying to wean myself off of these bad habits so that when I start my taper for the Ocean City Half at the beginning of next week it won't be such a shock to my body.<br />

After achieving my 10K PR goal at the <a href="http://therunninggoober.blogspot.com/2015/03/bluemont-shamrock-10k-race-recap.html" target="_blank">Shamrock 10K</a> two weeks prior I knew I had it in me to PR in the 5K distance so I signed up for this race. To say the odds were against me that day would be an understatement. We woke up to temps in the upper 30's with 20 mph wind gusts plus a chance of rain.<br />
<br />
For some reason I decided I would get hot running in a jacket (not!) so I wore my light running pants and my wine and dine long sleeve shirt. It ended up being fine once I warmed up, but boy did the wind go right through that outfit! Once we got to the start line I hit the button to start my Garmin and it seemed like a short time later I hear the race director counting down 5-4-3-2-1 GO! I looked down at my Garmin and the location meter had only halfway filled! I wanted to cry. I then told myself, "You never used to run with a watch, you don't need your Garmin for this race. JUST GO"<br />
<br />
We started on the track and when we hit the second straightaway the wind was gusting against us and rain was pelting us in the face. IT. WAS. MISERABLE. I felt like I was carrying 100 extra pounds running against the wind. My mental game went downhill from here. I have never negative talked myself so much in a race before. Definitely not something that I'm proud of. Not even music helped out.<br />
<br />
Overall, the course was pretty flat which was nice with the gusting winds. You ran around a building then there were two out and back sections and then you ran around a different building and then finished on the track.<br />
<br />
So I was out on the course blindly trying to PR and decided to get as close to Cameron as I could during the race. He started slightly ahead of me and I ended up catching him and pacing off of him at mile 1. Mile 1.5 brought the first out and back section. Cameron went around the cone and I could see him turning to look for me and he couldn't see me because I was right behind him. The look on his face when he turned around to see me there was priceless!<br />
<br />
At the second turn around I was able to count the girls in front of me and see how close the next female finisher was. I was currently the 3rd woman overall and there wasn't another female for awhile. I used that as major motivation to push through. Cameron and I started running beside each other at about mile 2 or so. He ran this race the year before so he coached me on what was left. At mile 2.5 I started to push with everything I had and pulled away from Cam. When I came down the last straightaway on the track I could see the timer was under 22 minutes and I wanted to finish before it hit 22 and I did!<br />
<br />
As soon as I finished and was able to talk again I asked Cameron, "Did you let me win?" He pinky promised that he didn't which was a relief for some reason haha. Post-race they had water, granola bars, fruit snacks, apples, and Chick-fil-a chicken minis! We stuck around for the awards and I got 3rd female overall. They called Cameron up to get 3rd place male 20-29 and when he got to the table they apologized and said, "We're really sorry you got 4th in that age group." It was sad and hilarious all at the same time.<br />
<br />
Official times weren't posted until late afternoon which killed me because I wanted to know my official time. My goal was to be under 22:51 which was my high school PR time (our races were 3 miles, not 5K). I ended up finishing the race in 21:50 (avg pace 7:03) which I am absolutely ecstatic about!<br />

I had some great workouts this week. I had picked up overtime at work and was disappointed that I would then most likely only get 3 workouts in. Well Sunday after work I was so full of energy that I went to the gym and got that 4th workout in! During my speed work on Monday my legs felt strong and solid. I did my long run on Wednesday this week because I had signed up to run a 5K on Saturday. The further into my 10 miler I got the better I felt. I proved to myself that all of my speed work has been paying off by earning a huge PR at my 5K race. I'll post a recap in the next few days. </div>

So the most exciting news this week came on Wednesday when I found out that I got into Marine Corps Marathon!! My cousin also got in and I am so excited to be there when he runs his first marathon. I booked my hotel and everything (a bunch of the room blocks had already sold out and I freaked out and quickly researched the course map, metro stops etc. and booked a room).</div>

I did my first run over the 10K distance since the Princess Half, which was 5 weeks ago. It was a beautiful day with temps in the 70's, but I could tell that my body isn't used to running in those temps yet. My legs were still recovering from the 10K race I ran on Saturday, they felt like lead! Amazingly, the speed workout I did the next day felt incredible! I'm signed up for a 5K next weekend and am hoping to PR and cross another 2015 goal off of my list. </div>

The morning also included a 5K and a kids fun run. There were about 220 people who participated in the 5K and 10K combined. It seemed to be pretty well organized for an inaugural event. It was an early 8 am start time. We picked up our packets the morning of the race, but packet pick-up was also offered in the evenings the five days preceding the race. We had received snow the day before that then melted and made the farm the race started at a mud hole. Luckily, the race took place on paved roads.<br />
<br />
Prior to this race I had never really raced a 10K before. I ran the Superhero 10K back in 2013 to get a proof of time for my first half marathon and the Enchanted 10K we ran last month was for fun. About a month ago I added once a week speed work into my training to prepare for my big 10K PR attempt. My dream 10K time is under 50 minutes, but I didn't think I quite had that in me for this race. So my realistic goal was under 55 minutes. My finish time ended up being 51:19 which I was ecstatic about! I also placed first in my age group.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>The Course and Swag</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was an out and back course that took place in the country. We were surrounded by beautiful farmland and I was loving every minute of it. I like out and back courses because you get to pass other runners which always motivates me. There were quite a few rolling hills throughout the course, but nothing too terrible. The one downfall to this course was that the roads were FILLED with potholes which increased my amount of weaving. The race director did warn you of this in the email sent out the day prior to the race which was nice. They also had orange cones throughout the course with signs that said, "Potholes ahead." There was a water station that we passed twice during the race. Course crowding was clearly not an issue and most of the time I could only see one or two people ahead of me. I was really enjoying running in the middle of nowhere just listening to my music. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
With our registration fee we got a blue short sleeved tech shirt. I got a small which was miniature in length, but it fit everywhere else. Maybe I have a long torso? For the age group prizes we got pint glasses from a local brewery. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Overall, this was a fun race with a nice course.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
So it's been about a month and a half since I last blogged, which is crazy! I even got behind on reading the blogs I follow (I am finally caught up on that). I thought I'd give you a rundown of what's been going on here recently.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>1. Marine Corps Marathon Lottery-</b> On March 13 I entered the Marine Corps Marathon Lottery. I'll find out on Wednesday if I got in or not. The anticipation is killing me! My cousin also applied and it would be his first marathon. It would be so awesome if we both got in!<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>2. Training-</b> I began adding speed work into my training once a week for the past month in preparation for some time based goals I have on my agenda for the spring. This past Saturday I ran my 10K PR race and it was incredible. More on that in tomorrow's race recap. My ultimate goal for the spring is to run under 2 hours at my spring half marathon in May. I realized that the race is less than 6 weeks away! I'll be increasing my long run mileage between now and then to properly prepare.<br />
<br />
<b>3. Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2016!!-</b> Back in February my in-laws booked our DVC rooms for Marathon Weekend. There are going to be at least 8 of my husband's family members there with a possibility of as many as 12 depending on people's work schedules. It should be a lot of fun to have everyone running in all of the different races that the weekend offers. I am so incredibly excited to go to Marathon weekend for a third year in a row. I'm not sure what race/races I'm going to run, but I definitely want to run the marathon again.</div>

I've really been enjoying adding speed work into the mix to change things up a bit. Recently I made a goal for myself to go to the gym one day a week before work so that I can work out a total of 5 days a week. Yes, this means waking up at 4 am prior to working a 12 hour shift, but it also means that I can keep strength training and running as much as I want. I've stuck to it two weeks in a row and I plan on going this Thursday too.<br />
<br />
This past weekend Em and I did our last long run prior to Princess Half Marathon Weekend in Disney. Our 5 miler on Saturday felt really good. Sunday I learned a really tough lesson in under fueling for a long run. I only ate a PB&J and had a cup of coffee prior to running. I also didn't hydrate well after my run on Saturday. I felt pretty good for the first few miles and then I started getting super hungry and tired. My fuel I brought wasn't cutting it and all I could focus on was finishing so that I could eat. Needless to say my last 4 miles were my fastest and I got very dizzy during my last mile (scary stuff!). I got back to my apartment as quickly as I could and drank Gatorade and ate pancakes and mac and cheese (ridiculous combo, I know). Lesson learned, I will never do that again!!<br />

<br />
Sunday January 11, the long anticipated day had arrived. I was about to run a marathon and complete the Goofy Challenge. I was a ball of emotion pretty much the entire day. All of my hard work and determination was about to culminate in a 26.2 mile victory lap. I trained for six months and ran 439 miles during training.<br />
<br />
I wrote 439 KC on my hand and welled up with tears as I was doing it. KC are initials of a person who died way too young and loved Disney and runDisney as much, if not more than I do.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqAp4fe0Q06yd0sXf8-Tk83d5bKYekYjNmuIIbPILSSVZ_afxoRNjuslfDX0v7arkULI6pzjv2r91rSN8j8WWGYOVKQ04DS24UrQfymJMff0N6_oFaHgV_Ni7olFTtXPATd5KyyCOdpvo/s1600/439.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqAp4fe0Q06yd0sXf8-Tk83d5bKYekYjNmuIIbPILSSVZ_afxoRNjuslfDX0v7arkULI6pzjv2r91rSN8j8WWGYOVKQ04DS24UrQfymJMff0N6_oFaHgV_Ni7olFTtXPATd5KyyCOdpvo/s1600/439.jpeg" height="200" width="150" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't realize that I had taken the picture at 4:39 until I posted the photo on social media, so crazy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were a little more slow moving when the alarm sounded at 3:30 am for the second day in a row. I put on my Minnie Mouse outfit, stashed all my fuel and was ready to run. We were pleasantly surprised that it was warmer outside and decided to walk to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot. It was already 4:30 by the time we got to the TTC. I was a little nervous a<span style="font-family: inherit;">bout not being able to start with the correct corral, but we made it in plenty of time. </span></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br />When we crossed the start line it was surreal that we were running a marathon. <span style="line-height: 107%;">The
first 8 miles of the course are the same as the half. I really enjoyed getting to run through Magic Kingdom with Cameron, huge highlight of the race. The crowds energy level seemed even greater than the day before. </span></span></div>

Miles 9-12 lead us to Animal Kingdom. There were some characters along this road as well as adorable animals (that had signs and bibs on) with their handlers outside of Animal Kingdom. I regret not getting a picture with the adorable sheep, donkey or goats. What I distinctly remember is <span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 107%;">Mile

found it hilarious that they had signs with fun facts all along the road where

Miles 14-17 is run along a highway that leads you to E<span style="font-family: inherit;">SPN. <span style="line-height: 107%;">Around
mile 16 there was a DJ blasting the best songs at the top of a slight hill.
Cameron and I loved this part of the race! We were bobbing our heads and lip syncing. I had to stop for more lube at the mile 16.5 medical tent. Somewhere in this stretch we saw Phineas and Ferb with no line. Cameron teaches third grade and his kids love Phineas and Ferb, so we had to stop. P.S. There was another banana station at ESPN and the thought of choking one down made me want to vomit so I passed it up. At Mile 20 I started to struggle. I'm not sure if I "hit the wall" or what, but I was not feeling well. I just kept plugging along hoping that the feeling would pass. I took some extra fuel hoping that would help to get me through and it did. Mile 21-22 had a weird uphill/slant to the road that killed my right knee and hip. </div>

We finally got to Hollywood Studios. I kept telling myself that when I got there I was on the home stretch and I had finally gotten to that point. The candy station was in a backstage area of Hollywood Studios and the mini Hershey bar tasted so delicious at this point in the race. There weren't too many people in the park cheering, but the ones that were there were great cheerleaders. We ran through the "disco tunnel" and there were flashing lights, but no music which was a let down. As we exited the park there were tons of people outside the park which was incredible. They were so loud and so encouraging! From this point to the finish line the spectators and course were awesome. </div>

I loved running on the boardwalk past the Swan, Dolphin, Beach and Yacht clubs. Such a beautiful area of Disney property. Right by the hill that takes you into Epcot there were two girls from #TeamSparkle cheering. I was wearing my <a href="http://sparkleathletic.com/shop/red-with-white-polka-dots-sparkle-running-skirt/" target="_blank">Minnie sparkle athletic skirt</a> (which is probably the most comfortable thing I've ever worn) and they started cheering so loudly, "Go Team Sparkle!!!" and gave me a high five. This is exactly what I needed to get me through the last mile. They also took my favorite picture from the race. I had a good laugh when Cameron turned to me and said, "What is team sparkle?" hahaha, I said, "I am, my skirt is a Team Sparkle skirt."</div>

We then entered Epcot and did a lap around World Showcase. When we hit the mile 25 sign I told Cameron I just wanted to run the rest of the way. It felt like it took forever to run that last mile. I was just in a daze running through world showcase. We headed into Future World and past Spaceship Earth towards the finish lin<span style="font-family: inherit;">e. </span>As soon as we passed the gospel choir I welled up with tears and had to hold it in until the finish line because I knew if I started crying now I wouldn't be able to breathe.</div>

It's been awhile since I've recapped my workouts. I took 7 days off from running after the Goofy Challenge. I focused on riding the bike and strength workouts during this period. I only took one unplanned rest day, which I was happy about. I've also been working on push-ups. No matter how exhausted I am I do at least one set with each workout I do. I eased back into running by doing 30 minute runs at a comfortable pace. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've now switched my training gears to preparing for the Glass Slipper Challenge at the end of February. This challenge consists of a 10K on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday. It'll be nice to run 20 less miles than the Goofy Challenge haha. This past weekend I completed 1 of 2 double run weekends that I plan on doing before race weekend. </div>

We had a great trip to Florida filled with running and lots of Disney eats. The weather was the only bummer of the trip. When we left from DC the temperature was 11 degrees and when we arrived in Florida it was in the low 40's. So we still had to wear jeans and long sleeves, boo!<br />
<br />
We arrived at the Polynesian on Thursday and headed straight for the expo. There was nobody at packet pick-up and we walked right up and got everything we needed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2uKxO-53sCBzj_R0lNc_AboJ2Kb-Y-rMEWgdkZV1zEDTW1rTOLigrJcnKnUDeWi6q_TGrbLvgk5A95o08ZahSKotQWvmCHN0UiLKhvsFzBGboSSG5bDIKqm_s61ZwWihk5D4g2cTGMJ8/s1600/exposign.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2uKxO-53sCBzj_R0lNc_AboJ2Kb-Y-rMEWgdkZV1zEDTW1rTOLigrJcnKnUDeWi6q_TGrbLvgk5A95o08ZahSKotQWvmCHN0UiLKhvsFzBGboSSG5bDIKqm_s61ZwWihk5D4g2cTGMJ8/s1600/exposign.jpeg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
We headed over to the expo and began browsing the official merchandise. I ended up getting the Goofy Challenge and marathon "I Did it!" shirts and a marathon tank top. I loved the official shirts that we got with registration this year.<br />

We checked out some of the vendors and I picked up my Sparkle Athletic Minnie Mouse skirt that I was going to wear for the marathon. I spotted Bart Yasso at the Runner's World booth and stopped to say Hi and take a picture. Such a cool guy!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Saturday morning rolled around and we had our 3:30 am wake up call. Since we were using the monorail as transportation we felt like we could sleep in a little. We learned last year after getting on the monorail at 3:30 that we could have gotten to the race much later haha. We left the room around 4:10 and decided to ride the monorail around the loop instead of walking to the TTC because it was cold out! I was planning on wearing my blue #teamsparkle skirt with my striped shirt and dress as Mr. Smee, but I had to add capris and long sleeves to the outfit so I didn't exactly look like him. It was comfortable and kept me warm. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsE5W-vzUYda_MbRxUec7BwHYa_h29xj1Akp4aDOSyDw5lNAW5qAcGjCXvQgDkMchqByoPa7pRYxOTA8bf5bmLoa82-9h6gi8XEayyyKFtFWwSLvhQnWPlc23gp3GAn4Rl0ngBIdhXdUs/s1600/MrSmee.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsE5W-vzUYda_MbRxUec7BwHYa_h29xj1Akp4aDOSyDw5lNAW5qAcGjCXvQgDkMchqByoPa7pRYxOTA8bf5bmLoa82-9h6gi8XEayyyKFtFWwSLvhQnWPlc23gp3GAn4Rl0ngBIdhXdUs/s1600/MrSmee.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We got to Epcot and stop to use the bathroom then started the cattle crawl to get to the corrals. The National Anthem started playing as we got to the corral entrance. I dropped back to corral M so that I could run the half with Em. The wind was bitter cold and I couldn't stop shivering. I just wanted to run! I knew as soon as we started I would warm up, but waiting took forever. So after 45-50 minutes it was finally time for us to start! Our plan was to take it easy during the half and save our legs for the full the next day.<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We ran the first mile straight in hopes that the crowds would thin out a little bit. The crowds didn't really thin the entire race which made for a lot of weaving and running in the grass to get around people. We ran the rest of the race using 4:1 run-walk intervals. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The first "entertainment" we came upon were the stilts guys from one of the Magic Kingdom parades. They were cheering and "Pumpin' Up the Party" was playing (I find that song so catchy haha!). They were also on the course again towards the end. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My favorite part of the half marathon is miles 4-7. You go
under the Magic Kingdom sign and then through the transportation and ticket
center. The energy level of the spectators there was incredible! Definitely a
highlight from the races on both Saturday and Sunday. People had some hilarious
signs at the TTC that also kept me chuckling. I gave out lots of high fives
here.</div>

Then we then came up on the tunnel that takes you past the Contemporary. The DJ on top of the bridge is pretty awesome and keeps your

I love making the right hand turn and looking down at all of the incredible spectators cheering on Main Street. Running towards the castle is the cherry on top. We stopped for a picture with the castle and Em saw a group of girls taking a picture with the castle and said, "Isn't that Liz?!" I was so excited to find one of my high school friends in the middle of Magic Kingdom. She was running her first half and doing an awesome job! We saw her several others times throughout the race too. Side note: She is now hooked on distance running and runDisney (it just happens!). </div>

The crowds were ok until we got to the castle where we had to walk because there were so many people. So took the opportunity to take a picture looking down Main Street from the castle. We ran through Liberty Square and Frontierland and then headed out of the park.<br />

I really enjoyed the music that they were blasting between

Right before entering Epcot there was a DJ blasting “I Wanna

It's that time of the year again to set goals for the upcoming year. I have a lot of PR based goal that I have my eyes set on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicj0cwaG_FjwuLtjIvaBqqd-lrfNHIgDJU1KxSx2QfkqcYpO3t-KKg2iPj9JSLKR52H1_GzejoHT9iv4cNFRR3iFHpZLNsk-iNeubhNIgGQko6SZ2L4XM5QL_VDhV_QniCq3r7lQ7-qQY/s1600/2015+goals.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicj0cwaG_FjwuLtjIvaBqqd-lrfNHIgDJU1KxSx2QfkqcYpO3t-KKg2iPj9JSLKR52H1_GzejoHT9iv4cNFRR3iFHpZLNsk-iNeubhNIgGQko6SZ2L4XM5QL_VDhV_QniCq3r7lQ7-qQY/s1600/2015+goals.jpg" height="279" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
1. <b>Complete a Marathon/Goofy Challenge:</b> Hopefully I will accomplish this goal on the 11th day of 2015 :) I have truly loved marathon training and am already considering a fall marathon (go ahead, call me crazy!).<br />
<br />
2. <b>Run a Sub-2 hour Half Marathon:</b> I was only 50 seconds away from accomplishing this at my second half back in March. I know if I train hard enough this goal can be reached.<br />
<br />
3. <b>Beat my high school 3 mile PR (22:51) at a 5K race:</b> I was 24 seconds off from this at the 2014 Turkey Trot.<br />
<br />
4. <b>Set a new 10K PR:</b> I've only run one 10K in my running "career" and it was 1:06:02. A PR in this distance is definitely attainable.<br />
<br />
5. <b>Become a Certified Med-Surg RN (CMSRN):</b> This looks great on a resume!<br />
<br />
6. <b>Blog more Consistently:</b> I enjoy blogging, but I currently don't make time for it/prioritize it.<br />
<br />
7. <b>Run in at least 10 races:</b> I'm already registered for 4 races so far this year so finding another 6 races I want to run shouldn't be hard at all :)<br />
<br />
What goals do you have for 2015?<br />

It's hard to believe that I've completed 26 weeks of training and all of my long runs are behind me. I'm going to focus on rest, hydration and nutrition for my taper. I've got 5 training runs and 5 shifts at work standing between me and the Goofy Challenge.<br />
<br />
Since I had to work on Christmas day this year my family and I celebrated the day before and the day after. Christmas day was actually pretty nuts at work, the ER was busy and the fact that it was Christmas didn't seem to stop people from coming into the hospital.<br />

I had an amazing run during my 18 miler! Even though the course was hilly I kept a steady pace up. The weather was perfect, in the 50's, which is unheard of in December. I even got a little sun burn on my face :) The fact that I got to start tapering at the end of this run was so motivating. I kept reminding myself of how many miles I've run since July and that 18 more is nothing in comparison. </div>

I got some awesome running/travel related Christmas gifts including a new Lululemon Energy Bra, Under Armour shirt, Run Less, Run Faster book, Clif Shot, Disney Gift cards, Sparkly Soul headbands and a 3 piece luggage set. My In-laws also surprised us with signing over a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) contract to us, so Cam and I are now DVC members! I've already started reading Run Less, Run Faster and can't wait to make a training plan based on what's in this book.</div>

I've traveled a lot and run in nine different races. I've proved to myself this year that I'm capable of far more than I ever imagined. With a positive attitude and determination anything is possible.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><u>The Goals I set for 2014</u></b><br />
<strike>Complete the Maryland Double</strike> A+<br />
<strike>Make more intention to stretch and foam roll</strike> A+ I attribute this to a lot of injury prevention<br />
<strike>Run at least a 2:25 half marathon</strike> A+ New PR 2:00:49 at Reach Half in April<br />
Try new recipes more frequently- F: I definitely failed at this goal, I think I've tried maybe 4 new recipes this year<br />
Read 6 books on my Nook- D: I read 3/6 books on my Nook and started a fourth book.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Half Marathon Success:</b> If you would have told me last September when I started training for the 2014 WDW Half that I would end up running five half marathons in 2014 I would have thought you were crazy. I also would have never believed I would be in training for the Goofy Challenge right now. One of my proudest moments was when I was 50 seconds away from running a sub-2 half in my second half marathon of the year back in April. I truly love the half marathon distance and don't find it overwhelming anymore like I once did.<br />

<b>Two 5K PRs:</b> This year I had a PR in the 5K distance in July and then again in November. In July I wanted to PR, but wasn't going to be disappointed if it didn't happen. The course ended up being flat and it was perfect weather for a PR: low temps. In November at the Turkey Trot I had no intentions of trying to PR. I picked what felt like a fast pace in the beginning and just tried to stick with it and it ended up being a PR!<br />

<b>Two years of Nursing Experience:</b> In October I celebrated being a nurse for two years. I've been on a medical-surgical (med-surg) floor since I started. In the nursing world I've reached that golden amount of time on a med-surg floor that will pretty much carry you into any path of nursing you want to go for which is exciting. My patients still tell me almost everyday that I look way too young to be an RN which always makes me laugh.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Travel, Travel, Travel:</b> I started out 2014 traveling to Disney World for Marathon Weekend. In June Em and I went to LBI for a short beach trip. In July my parents, aunt, uncle, Cam and I went to our beloved Outer Banks, NC for a week at the beach. In August we went to Baltimore for a wedding. In October we went to Charlottesville for a concert and then went back to Baltimore for the Baltimore Half Marathon. In November we traveled back to Disney for Wine and Dine Half weekend. Whew! That's a lot of traveling, but I wouldn't have it any other way!</div>

I've already started pondering goals that I want to set for 2015, but more on that in another post.<br /></div>
What was one of your favorite moments in 2014? Did you accomplish any goals?<br />

That's all for now!<br />

I received my card from my secret blogger on Friday. It was from Jennifer at <a href="http://runningonlentils.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Running on Lentils</a>. Go and check out her blog!<br />
<br />
She sent me an adorable running themed Christmas card with a sweet note inside. She also sent a shoe charm. She found out from my blog that I like yellow, runDisney races and half marathons and voila, the perfect shoe charm! I'm definitely going to wear it during WDW Marathon Weekend.<br />
<br />
Thank you so much Jennifer for sending such a thoughtful gift! Also, thanks to Meranda and Lacey for hosting such a fun card swap!<br />

I never thought I would see the day. Completing 20 miles was a confidence booster when it comes to finishing the marathon. We only have one more long run which we will do the weekend after Christmas and it will be 18 miles. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Overall a great week of workouts.<br />

We ran our 20 miles on the C&O Canal in MD. The area is flat and the scenery is beautiful! Definitely my new favorite place to run. Somehow my last mile was the fastest at 10:18. I was just glad I was energized instead of feeling like I was hitting the wall.</div>

I feel like I need to add new songs more frequently to add newness to my runs. The playlist I've been listening to lately is really on point. It keeps me motivated and pepped up with some slower tempo songs mixed in. I've never been a Taylor Swift fan, but I have 5 songs from her new album on here because they are just so darn catchy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I worked the two days following running 18 miles and I wasn't sure how that was going to go. I started out the day Monday with my right knee killing me. I think it ended up being good that I had to work because it forced me to move haha. By Monday afternoon my legs felt fine and all kinks had been worked out in my muscles/joints.<br />
<br />
So when I said I was looking forward to a low mileage week I didn't mean a 4.6 mile weekly total! I was hit with a cold on Thursday that has lasted through today. I was supposed to do a 45 minute run on Thursday and a 6 miler on Saturday, but they went by the wayside. I'm getting back in my groove today since it's the first day I've felt better.<br />

<br />
Yesterday was a day off of work for me and I had a cold develop over the course of the day. I felt worse as the day went on, but there were a few things that made me feel just a little bit better. I decided to write about my favorite comforts to have on a sick day.<br />
<br />
1. <b>Tazo Wild Sweet Orange Tea</b>: I love this tea anytime. I tend to drink it more often during the winter. I feel like it does wonders for me when I'm sick. Usually after a few cups of this tea I start feeling better.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><a href="http://www.drugstore.com/tazo-herbal-tea-wild-sweet-orange/qxp72232" target="_blank">Source</a></span></div>
<br />
2. <b>Water</b>: I try to drink a good amount of water on a daily basis, but I know when I'm sick I need to force fluids even more so that my body can flush out whatever is attacking my system.<br />
<br />
3. <b>Soup</b>: A sick day necessity! Two of my favorites are Wolfgang Puck's Tomato Basil Bisque and Progresso Chicken and Homestyle Noodle. Yum!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><a href="http://nogluten-noproblem.com/2011/07/product-review-wolfgang-puck-soups.html" target="_blank">Source</a> <a href="http://www.progresso.com/products/soup/rich-hearty-chicken-noodle" target="_blank">Source</a> </span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
4. <b>Clementines</b>: These delicious little fruits are the perfect snack. I keep them on hand all winter long and tend to buy the large 5 lb bag that Costco sells. For some reason I just kept eating these yesterday. It doesn't hurt that each one has 60% daily value of Vitamin C!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://justmeandyoukid.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/halos.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://justmeandyoukid.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/halos.jpg" height="149" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: xx-small;"><a href="http://justmeandyoukid.com/killing-you-slowly-with-chicken-nuggets-pepperoni-pizza/" target="_blank">Source</a></span></div>
<br />
5. <b>Puffs Plus Tissues</b>: When I have a runny nose it tends to get rubbed raw very quickly if I use regular tissues. Puffs Plus are like wiping your nose with a soft material so your skin doesn't get irritated.<br />

<br />
This is honestly the sweet spot of training where if I was going to get sick between now and January it is probably the best time to get it over with. I just completed my long runs over the weekend plus a 45 minute run. I don't have another long run for 9 more days. Let's hope this gets out of my system before then and I can stay healthy for the rest of this training cycle!<br />
<br />
What is one of your sick day favorites?<br />
<br />
That's all for now!<br />

On Thanksgiving Day I ran our local Turkey Trot 5K. I had run this in 2010 and 2011, but haven't run it since, because I had to work the past two Thanksgiving's. In 2010 it was my first race back since 2007. It was a cold morning, but not windy so in my eyes great conditions. I actually prefer cold temps to hot ones. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The course had some rolling hills, but nothing too crazy. I started out at what felt like a comfortably fast pace and just tried to maintain it. My mile times were all under 7:50 which I was really happy about. Miles 1 and 2 came and went pretty quickly. At about mile 2.7 or so I was still feeling good and decided to pick up the pace and push it all the way to the finish. Since I've been running much longer distances lately this race went by in the blink of an eye! It felt great to push the pace and run fast.</div>

After I crossed the finish line I had turned around to see some others finish and I saw Lindsey from <a href="http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/" target="_blank">Run Freckles Run</a>. I knew she lived in the area, but didn't know she'd be running this race. This was the first blogger I've ever met in person. To say I was excited was an understatement haha. She wore a GoPro during the race so it's a good view of the course. Her recap can be found <a href="http://www.runfrecklesrun.com/2014/11/race-recap-2015-hcc-turkey-trot.html" target="_blank">here</a>. We're both running at Marathon Weekend in Disney this January too. It was so nice meeting you Lindsey!</div>

It's been 3 weeks since I ran the Wine and Dine Half Marathon at Walt Disney World. In a nut shell it is probably my favorite race that I've ever run! We went to the expo on Friday at 10:15, which was a huge mistake. I'll never go to a Disney expo within the first few hours of opening. It was chaos! We had to wait in one line to get our 5K packets and then in a separate line to get our half marathon packets. I actually got really lucky, neither of the lines I had to wait in were long. The lines Em had to wait in were insanely long. We looked at official merchandise. but saved our money and didn't buy anything. Then browsed the rest of the vendors and bought just a few things, including my new favorite running accessory: <a href="http://sparklysoul.com/" target="_blank">Sparkly Soul Headbands!</a> More on those in another post.<br />

Saturday morning we ran the Jingle Jungle 5K, in case you missed it the recap is <a href="http://therunninggoober.blogspot.com/2014/11/jingle-jungle-5k-race-recap.html" target="_blank">here</a>. We then ate a solid breakfast at our resort and napped for close to 3 hours. The rest of the day we just hung out at this hotel and relaxed. We snacked about every 2 hours and were sure to drink a lot of water throughout the day. Old Key West wasn't a host resort so my MIL dropped us off at Saratoga Springs to catch a bus to ESPN WWOS. We arrived at about 7:20 and didn't board a bus until 8:10. It was insane the number of people that were in line. The transportation lady said that traffic on property was awful and the buses were taking awhile to get back. While in line we talked with a pair of sisters from NY who were earning their coast to coast that night!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The race course</div>
<br />
I almost fell asleep on the bus, and knew this was not a good start to a half marathon. I normally go to bed pretty early so this was out of my element. Once we got off of our bus we got in the bathroom line and then headed to our corral. The nice thing about this race was that we didn't have to do the cattle crawl like we did at Marathon Weekend. Once in our corrals we had an hour until the first corral started. About 45 minutes before we started the rain started to fall. Luckily, we had ponchos to put on while we waited.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had planned to wear a costume, but once I saw the forecast I decided to wear normal running clothes. During the first four miles there wasn't much entertainment and it was only exacerbating my tiredness. I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it to the finish. We then came to Animal Kingdom and there was quite a bit going on in that park which helped to wake me up. We then ran back down the highway towards Hollywood Studios. We were in and around Hollywood Studios for quite awhile. I actually ran in my poncho for 9 miles and it kept me comfortably warm. I ditched it prior to Hollywood Studios because I knew I wanted a picture in Osbourne Lights without a poncho on haha.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We ran through the disco tunnel which was pretty awesome. They were playing, "Shake Your Groove Thing" and "September." We then came to my absolute favorite part of the race and the one I had been anticipating the most. It was all I imagined it would be and more...The Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights! I could have spent a long time just meandering the semi-empty street. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We then left Hollywood Studios and headed to the Boardwalk area and into Epcot. The path that lead to the Boardwalk was very narrow and was the only part of the course that was crowded. When we entered Epcot I knew we were close to the finish. Right before the finish line you ran through a lit up area with The William Tell Overture playing. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our goal for this race was to feel good at the end so that we could enjoy the after party. Well we accomplished that! I have never had so much energy at the end of a race let alone at a little after 1 am. Our time was 2:42:59. I immediately grabbed a Mylar blanket because I was pretty cold and those things are amazing at warming you up!</div>

Finishers!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="text-align: left;">We grabbed our bag of dry clothes and headed for a bathroom towards the back of Epcot to get out of our soaking wet clothes. After changing we hung out in the Craft Beer area for awhile to relax, warm up and stretch a little. Then we put our ponchos back on and braved the weather to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival After Party. It ended up not raining too hard and was such a fun time. There was hardly anyone out, I'm guessing because of the weather. They had great music playing and had quite a few characters out. The food satisfied my appetite. It was good that we went to the festival on Thursday because we knew what we liked and didn't like from the different countries. We ended up staying until about 3:40 am!</span></div>

Before I wrap up I want to talk about the INCREDIBLE volunteers that were out on the course! They were out in the pouring down rain and acted as if it didn't phase them. Their energy levels were high and you couldn't even tell we were having bad weather. I took every opportunity I had to thank them for being out there. Thank you to everyone who volunteered at Wine and Dine, the race wouldn't have been possible without you!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Have you ever run Wine and Dine Half?<br />
<br />
That's all for now!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
This week's workouts were pretty intense. The Turkey Trot was great! I'll be posting the recap of that sometime this week. We had another set of back-to-back runs this weekend. Saturday's 9.5 miler wasn't too bad, it was only slightly chilly out which was nice. Our 18 miler on Sunday was brutal! We couldn't have had better weather, but our legs were all sore from the day before. My IT band kept tightening up during every incline. I ended up running to the gym and doing the last 4 miles on the treadmill just so I could run on a flat surface. My confidence about Goofy is definitely wavering at the moment. Our 17 miler went way better than this week's. I know bad runs are going to happen during training, but it doesn't make it any easier on your mental game. It's hard to believe that we only have one more weekend of back-to-back runs (2 weeks from now) and then an 18 miler after Christmas! Here's how it went down this week:</div>

I put our Christmas decorations up on Saturday. Katniss seems to enjoy them just by laying under the tree, while Polo enjoys them by climbing the tree. He hasn't climbed the tree since I put the ornaments on it (knock on wood!).</div>
